My seashell collection means so much to me, so it's always a little bittersweet to part with a piece. But I love being able to share these shells with others and hopefully inspire them to notice the tiny colors, patterns, shapes, and details that I find so beautiful.
About My Display Cases
Growing up in Florida, collecting seashells became one of my greatest passions. Every trip to the beach ended with pockets and buckets filled with shells whose colors, patterns, and forms fascinated me. Like many collectors, I carefully stored them away in boxes, but over time I realized I was hiding the very beauty that made them so special.
I began designing my own display cases so those collections could be appreciated every day. Each piece I create is built around shells that I have personally collected over the years, allowing me to thoughtfully arrange them into compositions inspired by nature's incredible diversity.
The Design Process
Every display begins with a vision. Some pieces are inspired by where I found the seashells, while others focus on highlighting the beautiful range of colors naturally found within different species. Before assembling a display, I carefully select shells that complement one another in size, shape, and pattern, arranging them until the composition feels balanced and harmonious. Every display case is individually handcrafted from carefully selected materials, with every piece of wood meticulously cut, sanded, stained, varnished, and assembled entirely by hand. Likewise, every seashell is personally collected, cleaned, varnished, and thoughtfully selected before becoming a permanent part of the composition. The result is a one-of-a-kind display designed to showcase the remarkable beauty already found in nature while complementing it with craftsmanship that is made to last for years to come.
Inspired by Nature
Just as my paintings often explore the geometric shapes that I see within nature, my display cases are designed with many of those same artistic principles in mind. Differences in shape, size, texture, and color naturally create movement throughout each composition, allowing every display to feel both carefully designed and completely unique.
Rather than simply organizing individual shells into separate compartments, I strive to create compositions that celebrate the remarkable diversity already found in nature. Whether highlighting the subtle variations between similar shells or showcasing the contrasting colors and textures found within a single species, every arrangement is designed to draw the eye and reveal details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
